Tough lessons to learn

This morning, The Boy was very sad to learn what happens to balloons when they deflate.

We attended a party for Jen’s little boy, E, who was celebrating his first birthday. There were some helium balloons at the party, to all of which The Boy was quite attached, so when we left, we took a bunch with us.

As with most latex balloons, these lost their buoyancy overnight, and Cute Husband secretly deflated (and disposed of) all but one. He saved this last balloon to serve as a lesson in what happens when balloons deflate. Cute Husband gently punctured the balloon, then let The Boy hold it as the air escaped. Once it was completely deflated, a very sad The Boy placed its remains in the trashcan.

It was a very sad moment for us all.
