Apparently, Rio de Janeiro is not the best place to be when one is obese. If you’re unlucky enough to get sick there and need medical attention, you get sent to a horse hospital where the equipment is designed to handle more weight. It’s also supposed to be more comfortable at the horse hospital because there is more room to move about.
Now, I’m not saying that medicine needs to be readjusted to cater to the obese. Obesity has a whole host of issues of its own, and I think it’s a problem that needs to be addressed. But sending people to an animal hospital?
There has to be a better – and more humane – way.
